Theology is the study of life

When we study God we are not just trying to understand who God is.  We are also attempting to learn the answers to the deep questions of life:  “Why am I here?”; “Why is there suffering?”;  “Am I loved?”; “What does it mean to be human?”; “What gives life meaning and purpose?”, etc.

As we come to know God, we come to know ourselves and gain answers.  This is why it is it important for us who have faith to continue to study the One who gave us life.  When we have big questions, this is not an indication of doubt but rather, as St. Anselm said, it is “faith seeking understanding.”

The Dating Project

the dating project

Dating in today’s day and age seems to be an antiquated thing.  In the last few decades, the meaning of dating has changed from courtship, or finding a suitable person to marry one day to hooking up for casual sex.  The definition of the term has gotten so obscure, even lost, that many young people honestly don’t know what the concept of dating is.  They’ve never even heard of it.  The movie, “The Dating Project” seeks to change that.  It will be showing in Kennewick on April 17th at 7:00 p.m. at the Columbia Mall 8.  For more information, go to:

St. Isidore of Seville, pray for us!

Today is the Feast of St. Isidore, Patron Saint of the Internet. Here is a prayer to help protect you when you surf the net:

Almighty and eternal God, who created us in Thine image and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful, especially in the divine person of Thine Only-begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant, we beseech Thee, that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor, during our journeys through the internet we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

FULFILLED begins tomorrow!

Do you find that the only time you have to participate in a Bible study is in your jammies first thing in the morning at 6:00 a.m.? Are you a night owl and prefer doing studying Scripture after the late night news? Are you better at writing your thoughts down than participating in verbal discussion? Then this study is for you! We will meet only online and sessions can be viewed and discussion participation can be made at any time during the class time frame. Participants will view the videos online at and purchase their books from Ascension Press. Study discussion will take place on the Fulfilled Discussion board on our class dashboard at Ascension Press and on the Christ the King Adult Religious Education Facebook page. The discussion will be actively moderated/facilitated every Thursday between 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., though you are not required to participate during those times if they are inconvenient for you. In other words, post when you can and when/if you want!  Please email Gretchen for more details about how to log on and participate in this study.

If you are signing up now, I can send you temporary materials until yours come in from Ascension Press.  If you will need a copy to tie you over until delivery of your workbook, or if you have any questions, please email me at:
